Curriculum Vitae

I was born in Bolungarvik/Iceland as the third of seven children. My father was a fisherman and my mother ran a small grocery store. At the village music school I learned the accordion, piano and saxophone. From 1976 to 1980 I trained as an electrician in Reykjavik, also attended the Church Music School and Emil Adolfsson’s Accordion School. In 1981 I began my accordion studies with Prof. Elsbeth Moser at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater” in Hanover, Germany, which I finished in 1987. I taught at a music school near Hanover and at the Conservatory in Osnabrück before I founded my Vagnsson recording studio in Hanover in 1989 and ran it until 2003. This was followed by a few years of living in Iceland where I worked as a music school director in my home village. Since 2006, I have been running the Old Doctor´s House in Hesteyri, a small guesthouse in the Hornstrandir nature reserve in the northwest of Iceland, every year during the summer months. In winter I’m usually in Germany and work as a freelance sound engineer.
